This Privacy Policy explains what information Smak (“we,” “us”) collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using Smak, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
- Account details — your name, email address, city, and password (stored securely, never in plain text).
- Profile information — anything you add, such as a bio, photo, and your home address (used to host meals).
- Meal and activity data — meals you host or join, seat requests, messages, ratings, and reviews.
- Waitlist and feedback — the email, city, or message you submit if you join the waitlist or send feedback.
- Technical data — basic logs and device/usage information collected automatically to keep the service running and secure.
How we use it
- To run Smak — create your account, show meals, connect hosts and guests, and enable ratings.
- To share your exact address only with guests you accept; everyone else sees just your city.
- To send you service messages (confirmations, invites, password resets, notifications).
- To keep members safe, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms.
- To improve the product and understand how it's used.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate Smak, including:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
- Vercel — website hosting.
- Resend — sending transactional email.
- Persona — identity verification (ID + selfie), if you choose or are required to verify. Your ID documents and selfie are handled by Persona under their privacy policy; Smak stores only whether you passed and a reference number, never the documents themselves.
- Pexels — supplying stock cover photos (based on the cuisine you type; we don't send them your personal data).
Other members see the information you choose to make visible — your profile, meals, messages, and ratings — and accepted guests see your exact address.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data.
Your choices and rights
You can view and update most of your information in your account settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, email us at the address below.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and keep your login details private.
Children
Smak is for adults. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll take reasonable steps to notify you.
